🧭 Your Core Responsibilities
🌟 Lead & Mentor Volunteers
Guide new and returning volunteers through their shifts,
ensuring every team member feels confident
explaining the program and interacting with guests.
🗣️ Be the Voice of the Mission
Share the story of the Community Christmas Tree -
how each tag represents a child,
how every gift returns to McHenry Bowl for processing,
and how the entire system runs on community love.
🎁 Manage the Guest Experience
Keep the kiosk warm, welcoming, and organized.
Step in when guests have questions or special requests,
and ensure every interaction ends with a smile and clear direction.
📋 Coordinate Tag Flow
Track which tags have been taken, returned, or need replacement.
Oversee proper registration for each participant and
verify accuracy before gifts are sent to the Processing Room.
🏢 Engage Businesses & Bulk Givers
Encourage local companies, families, and organizations
to adopt multiple tags or whole sections of the Tree.
Provide follow-up materials and guidance for large-scale donations.
🎄 Maintain the Tree’s Presentation
Ensure the Tree and the surrounding area stay clean,
festive, and photo-ready throughout each shift.
Attention to detail here reflects the
care behind the entire program.
📦 Coordinate with the Processing Room
Work directly with the logistics team at
McHenry Bowl to ensure returned gifts are
transported promptly and logged accurately.
💫 Why It Matters
Supervisors are the link between
coordination and compassion.
You model leadership through patience,
clarity, and service - showing both
volunteers and shoppers what
community looks like in action.
When everything runs smoothly,
you’ve made it invisible…
but the impact is unforgettable.
You don’t just manage a shift;
you keep the Christmas magic flowing.
Select the shift that works best for you:

“Ho, ho, ho! You know, every year my sleigh is packed full of toys… but the real magic doesn’t happen in the North Pole, it happens right here in Modesto.
These incredible volunteers help bring Christmas morning to life for thousands of kids. I may deliver the gifts, but they deliver the joy. If you’re thinking about joining us, grab a spot, the Nice List has your name on it.”

“I used to think wrapping presents at the North Pole was the most fun a little elf could have… then I volunteered
at Community Christmas Tree Modesto!
I got to help families pick tags, sort gifts, and spread enough holiday cheer to make Rudolph do a happy dance. So grab your cocoa, your biggest smile, and let’s make some magic together. Trust me, it’s way more fun than polishing candy canes all day.”
